As fish exporters are entering a busy 2026, they might have missed the December data recently uploaded to NordicFishView. Therefore, we attached 5 platform screenshots from our own walkthrough of Norwegian groundfish markets for 2025.(all values are converted to DKK from NOK with the platform currency tool).
1. Cod (63%) and saithe (21%) accounted for most of groundfish export, consisting mainly of clipfish, salted whole, and dried fish. Haddock, Ling, and Tusk together resembled 16%. The world map shows that groundfish is consumed globally, with significant markets in Brazil and China. Portugal is the biggest market and imported 25% of all groundfish. See image below.

2. Cod is king when compared to the other species. For the first time in many years, cod consistently obtained higher prices than salmon. See image below.

3. After isolating cod, we found that the categories of dried, clipfish, and fillet were most valuable, with dried fish exceeding 250 DKK/kg in 2025. See image below.

4. Among the biggest markets, Italy and Portugal paid the highest prices/kg. See image below.

5. This is because 77% of cod exports to Italy were dried fish, while 57% of cod exports to Portugal were clipfish.
